Youth TED Talks
Elizabeth Zion: Family reunification is a pressing issue for children and families
Like millions of children, Elizabeth Zion’s family has been prevented from being whole by broken immigration policies that have barred her father from joining his family in their new home country. “I want all families around the world to be made whole, to be reunified, to be together — as is our right.” she says. In this heartbreakingly emotional talk, Zion shares the practical impacts of family separation, including her family’s struggles with homelessness.
Jane Velkovski: Accessibility means freedom — in every sense
From a young age, Jane Velkovski has relied on a wheelchair to get around in life. And having a motorized wheelchair has allowed Jane to be independent, whether at school or playing with his friends. But as Velkovski points out, he only has this freedom because of luck — but people with disabilities shouldn’t be dependent on luck or charity for their rights and freedom. This talk is a great way for all of us to better understand the perspective of people with disabilities and how each of us, and society, can help.
